Importance of not forgeting the care of our feet.
Our feet have a quarter of the total bones of our body, are a vast interconnection of nerves, as well as the joints, ligaments, veins, arteries, muscles and skin.
Often the feet are one of the parts of our body that we sometimes pay least attention to, although they provide much needed support to our body, keep your balance, and use them to move, stop, and perform rhythmic movements and exercises.
At times when I recommend to my clients that they walk 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day, at time I hear back that they cannot do so because their feet hurt, or have calluses, and so on. Here is the following information, which in no way is intended to replace the first hand care and treatment of a recommended podiatrist:
Podiatrists are doctors who specialize in foot health and preventive care to treat operative conditions and diseases of the feet.
Diabetes and diabetic neuropathy: is a consequence of diabetes that can damage the nerves, blood vessels and consequently cause less oxygen distribution to the feet. This decreases the sensitivity to injury or pressure on the feet, which can cause severe damage or infection, and even small wounds can become severe ulcers.
Thus there is a risk of amputation from the ankle to below the knee. Among other recommendations for people with diabetes are good hygiene and inspect your feet daily. This includes the washing of the feet with warm water and mild soap, and inspected carefully, the top, sides, sole, heels and between toes.
The drying of the feet is equally important, because in humid areas can create an environment conducive to the development of infectious microorganisms. If you apply some soothing cream, consult your doctor first. If you go to the podiatrist, ask if you can get your nails trimmed, many times in the doctor’s office nurses do so to make sure the cut is professional and avoid risks. The diabetic type of shoes and socks neeed are available in many brands and prices, and sometimes the cost of diabetic shoes may be covered by insurance.
In children, there are certain foot problems that can appear in childhood, as an example the flat foot. Many of these problems are apparent to notince in the manner the child starts to wear down the shoes. First ask your doctor and schedule a visit with your podiatrist if you have any concerns about your child’s feet.
For exercise a good quality pair of tennis shoes is a good investment. We know there are many variety of tennis shoes for each and every sports activity. The most appropriate tennis shoe could mean the difference, not only in the efficiency of the exercise, but in injury prevention.
Healthy feet can depend on important factors such as types of shoes, stockings, socks, and the needs to see a podiatrist for conditions such as corns, bunions, athlete’s foot or a bad smell.
